From the article: CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Demolition of the concrete boat dock at Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston began Thursday, and city officials hope to have it completed within the next week and a half.

The structure is being replaced with a galvanized, floating dock that will rise along with the river, City Engineer Chris Knox said.

The entire project should be finished by late November, he said.

"This is going to be really neat," Knox said.

The dock will cost about $527,600, with about $125,000 coming from a West Virginia Port Authority grant. The rest will come from the city's general maintenance fund.

The new dock, which will sit on pilings driven into the bedrock below the river, will be able to rise as high as Kanawha Boulevard during periods of high water, Knox said.
