Frequently asked questions

How many steps does my ladder need?

Measure from the top of your decking to the normal waterline, then add enough to put two steps under water. Most residential floating docks land on three or four steps. Fixed piers and seawalls sit higher and usually need five to seven.

If your water level swings a lot through the season, size for the low end. Steps you do not need are easier to live with than steps you cannot reach.

How much rub rail do I need, and what fasteners?

Measure the total edge you want covered and round up to the next 10' piece. Do not forget the far side of any finger section. Plan on roughly 30 screws or nails per 10' length, and buy stainless fasteners separately. Corner bumpers are ordered on their own.

Will these accessories hold up in salt water?

Yes. The ladders are 6063-T5 marine-grade aluminum, rated for fresh and salt water. Rub rail is PVC with UV stabilizers, unaffected by gas, oil or salt. Cleats and bolted hardware are hot-dip galvanized, a thick zinc coating that handles constant spray for years.

Rinse everything with fresh water at the end of the season. That one habit does more for the life of aluminum and galvanized steel than anything else you can do.
