Our History

Valley Manufacturing Was Incorporated
1963
Founded by Paul J. Diserio in Wellsburg, WV, it was initially a metal stamping business that provided precision parts and components for various industries, including automotive, appliance, and industrial machinery. The company gained a reputation for quality craftsmanship and innovation in metal fabrication.
Follansbee Dock Systems Was Incorporated
1979
Follansbee emerged as a pioneer in dock manufacturing, being credited with producing the first mass-scale boat docks and dock hardware for global markets. Known for their forward-thinking designs, the company earned a reputation as a leader in durable, efficient dock systems, developing innovative dock products and solutions that revolutionized the marine access industry.
Exclusive Partnership with Valley Manufacturing
1999
Valley Manufacturing became the sole manufacturer and supplier of metal goods for Follansbee Dock Systems, solidifying a strong collaboration combining Valley’s expertise in metal fabrication with Follansbee’s focus on dock hardware and marine systems, setting a foundation for future growth.
Rebranding as American Muscle Docks & Fabrication
2012
Valley Manufacturing acquired Follansbee Dock Systems through vertical integration and rebranded the unified company as American Muscle Docks & Fabrication. This strategic move allowed AMD to sell products directly to customers, bypassing intermediaries, innovate in-house with full control over the manufacturing process, and strengthen its position in the competitive marine access market.
Major Expansion and Continued Growth
2019
In 2019, AMD built a 14,400 sq. ft. warehouse and office building, doubling down on infrastructure to meet increasing customer demand with operational efficiency. In 2022, the company celebrated a decade of huge success under the American Muscle Docks brand, including the achievement of consistent year-over-year sales growth since 2012 and the introduction of patented products that addressed challenges in the marine access industry, such as modular systems and custom solutions. AMD focused on providing smarter, more sustainable marine access solutions, contributing to its industry-leading reputation.
Acquisition by Canopy Brands
June 2024
American Muscle Docks was acquired by Canopy Brands, a company specializing in access solutions across multiple industries. The acquisition marked a new chapter, bringing AMD access to expanded resources and capital for product development and innovation, as well as new opportunities to diversify product offerings beyond the marine industry. The ability to reach untapped markets was introduced with support for geographic expansion. Plans were announced to broaden AMD’s footprint with new product lines while maintaining its commitment to customer satisfaction and marine access innovation.
