Honoring the Blue Moon Drive-In, the American Muscle Docks Way

Blue Moon Drive-In American Muscle Docks Tribute

The land that American Muscle Docks operates on today was once home to the Blue Moon Drive-In. Built in 1950, the movie screen stood on the property for decades and became a familiar landmark long before American Muscle Docks existed.

Even after the drive-in stopped operating, the screen remained a staple on the land. Customers, visitors, and delivery drivers commented on it constantly. It was often the first thing people noticed and the easiest way to explain where American Muscle Docks was located. The Blue Moon never stopped being part of this place's identity.

As American Muscle Docks continues to expand, the space formerly occupied by the drive-in screen has become crucial to its operations. Removing the screen allows us to better utilize the property to support manufacturing, efficiency, and future growth. This step is necessary to meet customer demand, maintain quality, and continue creating jobs.

Before demolition began, American Muscle Docks employees chose to pause and honor what the Blue Moon meant to the community. This included a community event and the recognization of Dominic Cioni, a 16-year-old young man who lost his life during the construction of the screen in 1950. His name and his sacrifice are part of this site’s history and deserve to be remembered.

To mark the moment, AMD honored the Blue Moon the best way they knew how. Before any demolition work started, they fired a cannon built by AMD as a salute to the drive-in. It was loud, intentional, and unforgettable. A final moment in the spotlight for a place that had spent decades being seen.

Progress does not mean forgetting the past. This ceremony was AMD's way of acknowledging and honoring what stood before and what comes next.

American Muscle Docks is grateful for the Blue Moon Drive-In's history, proud of the work underway, and focused on building a strong future for American Muscle Docks and the customers they serve.
